How long do the band play for?
We do 2 x sets of 50 minutes with usually about 30 minutes break between.

Can the band also provide a DJ?
We can provide a DJ in addition to the band so just ask and we’ll give you the number of a great DJ or we can book him direct. Obviously our fee will increase accordingly if this is the case.

When can I see the band play live?

Boogie Wonderland mainly play at private and corporate functions. Finding a good live venue that actually pays bands a wage for performing is diminishing fast!

However, we do a few public gigs such as the Clair Hall in Haywards Heath in Sussex, so keep an eye on the News page for details or alternatively join our mailing list here to be kept up to date.

Will the band have the same line up as when we've seen the band previously or as seen on this website?
The reason Boogie Wonderland are so good is that we only use the best musicians! The downside to this is that, as each member is an established performer in their own right, the band line-up may change from performance to performance due to other work or personal committments. When this occurs we have a roster of top quality professional musicians and vocalists that we use to substitute. Should this happen you can be assured that our performance will still be of the highest quality.

Do the band play requests?

We tend not too! Because the band already have a carefully rehearsed and planned set that works extremely well, with new songs being added and others being substituted.

A large part of our music is made up of medleys … or 3 or 4 songs joined together, designed to keep the audience on the dance floor. For the requested song to be added to our set and to sound as good as the rest of the songs, we will want to rehearse it beforehand, which costs time and money.

How long does it take the band to set up and soundcheck?

In most cases we will need access to the venue a minimum of 2 hours before the function starts in order to set up and sound check.

There is not a 2 hour gap between our afternoon function and the evening, can the band arrive earlier to setup?

We can arrive earlier and set up before your afternoon function but obviously this will increase our basic price accordingly, dependent on arrival time needed.

What happens before, after and between your 2 sets?

We normally bring a CD player along and play this through our sound system using various compilation Dance or Pop CDs. If you want specific tracks played, if you bring along your own CD we’ll put it on!

Obviously, if you want to be able to request tracks on the night, you will have to hire in a DJ in addition to the band.

What do I have to provide for the band to make them happy and comfortable?

We don’t ask for much – blue smarties, wild orchids in our dressing room and Moët & Chandon Champagne on tap please.

Seriously though, a hot meal and a supply of soft drinks available thoughout our time at the venue for the band plus our sound engineer will keep us very happy.

Also we do need somewhere comfortable to keep out of your way when we’re not performing and to change into our stage clothes, apply make-up etc so a mirror would also be useful.

How much room should I allow for the band and their equipment to take up?

We need an area of 20 feet by 12 feet minimum to set-up in. This is to allow for a 6 piece band which includes drum kits, amplifiers, keyboard, microphone stands etc plus space for us all to perform in.

Our sound engineer also needs to set up and operate a mixing desk to one side of where the band is setup.

How much does it cost to book the band?

Boogie Wonderland rates start from £2,000.00 dependent on:

  • Venue location ( we are mainly based near Gatwick, West Sussex )
  • Timings ( load-in and finish times )
  • Venue or room size ( hence sound system size )
  • Longer travel times, early load-in times, finish times after midnight and the necessity for larger sound systems will increase this price accordingly.

If we need to travel for more than 3 hours to get to the venue, or if the event has a late finish time, we will book overnight accommodation for 7 people. This, plus obviously the extended time spent away will increase the total price.

What's included in the basic price?

The basic price includes:

  • 2 x 50 minute live sets with the band.
  • A quality 2000 watt sound system with Sound Engineer. ( Suitable for most venues holding up to 200 people )
  • CD music played when the band are not performing.
  • A quality lighting rig.

How do I pay the band?

Do the band play at weddings?

We certainly do! Not normally the most “rock’n’roll” of gigs but we do seem to be a very, very popular choice for couples wanting to have their friends and family dancing the night away. (See our Testimonials page)

Our music appeals to all generations!

Why do I have to provide the band with a meal and soft drinks?

We don’t ask for much – a hot meal and a supply of soft drinks available thoughout our time at the venue for the band plus our sound engineer will keep us very happy.

Because the band members come from various locations in the South East, there’s usually some amount of travel for most of us, either side of the event. This means an early start and a very late bedtime making a long working day. This seems even longer without food or drink…..

If this is not possible to arrange we will increase the cost a little to account for us to leave the venue after sound check and eat elsewhere before our performance.

Why do I have to provide the band with a dressing room?
Because there’s usually long periods when we’re not on stage we do need somewhere comfortable to keep out of your way and and to change into our stage clothes and apply make-up etc so a mirror would also be useful.

My function is in a marquee - what electrical requirements do the band need?

For performances taking place in marquees, tents or other structures using “external” mains power, we require a 32Amp Cee-Form supply provided by mains power or a regulated generator.

This needs to be fed independently of other circuits running heating or cooking equipment etc. So often we are told that the supply is ok only to arrive at the venue to find that we can’t soundcheck because the catering staff are cooking, or that our lights are too powerful. Power cuts can damage our equipment as well as interrupting the flow of the evening.

We utilise a lot of powerful sound equipment and lighting that require a reliable supply and that use up a lot of power resource.

We cannot be held responsible for any power failure should this request not be met.
